Absolutely. A lot of locals head to the Porte Cailhau, the old city gate that few tourists spend enough time at,it offers a fantastic view over the river and the bridge. Also, the rue Saint-James area has tucked-away mansions from the 18th century that tell Bordeaux’s story outside the usual tourist loop.
