Pub Restaurants in Bordeaux

Looking for a proper pub experience in Bordeaux? Forget the fancy wine bars for a moment and swing by some of the city's laid-back spots where the focus is on good beer, chatting with locals, and sometimes a game or live music. You’ll find pubs scattered all over, but the Chartrons neighborhood has a nice mix if you want to combine a stroll with your pint.

One of my favorites is Le Burdigala, right near Place Pey Berland. It's small, lively, and you can always find a craft beer or two that’s hard to get anywhere else in the city. And if you’re here in the cooler months, their snug vibe is exactly what you want. Don’t expect a flashy menu, but do expect bottles and taps from local breweries like Brasserie de la Lune.

Tip: If you end up near Rue Sainte-Catherine in the evening, make a detour to The Red Lion. It’s a proper English-style pub where you can catch a football match or just enjoy the friendly banter. Pubs here don’t usually serve food beyond some simple snacks, so plan to eat beforehand or grab a quick bite nearby. Honestly, a pub night in Bordeaux feels refreshingly genuine, away from the wine hype, and that’s why I keep going back.
