Getting to Bordeaux

Bordeaux is a major rail transit hub in France handling 350 trains a day. Gare de Saint Jean, the railway station, is centrally located on Rue Charles-Domercq. To get to the Bourdeaux Tourist Office, take Tram C just outside the train station to the Quinconces stop - about 3 km.  The Bordeaux Tourist Officeis is located near The Esplanade des Quinconces.
 
Destinations from Bordeaux:
 
There are 25 TGV return trips daily from Bordeaux to Paris Gare Montparnasse.  (63.70€ – TGV fast train 2 hours 58 minutes). Other destinations include: Bayonne taking 1 ¾ hours ( 25.70€ ) , Poitiers – 1 ¾ hours ( 30.30€ ), La Rochelle – 2 hours ( 28.80€ ),  Toulouse – 2 ¼ hours ( 31.60€ ).

Bus

The Citram Aquitaine bus line goes to most Gironde destinations. For schedules and prices go to the information kiosk at the Esplanade des Quinconces near the Bordeaux Tourist Office.

Eurolines’ busses specialize in international travel  and have attractive fares to destinations all over Europe and Morocco. They are located across from the St. Jean train stationon at 32 rue charles Domercq.

Car
 
France has an excellent road and motorway system and it takes less than 2 hours to drive to many major centres in Southwest France from Bordeaux. The city has a ring road or ‘Rocade’ and various points can be reached within the city from here.

A62 – Bordeaux via Agen to Toulouse: 242 km
A63/N10 – Bordeaux to Biarritz: 180 km
RN 137 – Bordeaux via Saintes-Royen to La Rochelle
RN89 –Bordeaux to Périgueux
 
Rental car companies are located at the train station, Gare Saint Jean, to the left as you exit. The usual major companies are found at the Bordeaux Merignac Airport.

By Air

The Bordeaux Merignac Airport is 10 km west of the city of Bordeaux in the suburb of Merignac providing domestic and international Airliine service.

Taxi service from the airport to the city centre is around 20€.
The Jet Bus will also take you to the Bordeaux train station or Bordeaux city centre 365 days of the year taking 30 to 45 minutes depending on traffic at a cost of 7€. If requested they will even make stops along the way.
