Futuroscope is futuristic theme park with attractions, rides and experience based on multimedia, cinematography, audio visual techniques and robotics of the future.
“Experience” is the buzz word of the park and chosen carefully as “Everything which is apprehended by the senses and is the subject of human knowledge”.
Just outside of Poitiers, Futuroscope is a 2 hour train journey from Bordeaux direct to the door or a 1 ½ hour drive from La Rochelle, (similar time from Paris) or driving from Bordeaux takes around 2 hr. 24 min.
Housed in and around outstanding architecture some of the attractions for 2011 include; The Animal’s Future, ' The Dynamic Vienne' a film with sensory effects and 'Cosmic Shock'. ' Travelers from the Sky and Sea' is a magic carpet ride movie through an Imax 2 screen experience. Dance with robots on the Robocoaster) or experience the' Eyes Closed Sensory Walk' in the dark plus many more.

Around the Futuroscope Park and developed by the General Council of the Vienne is a 200 hectare technology center where some 160 companies work in the fields as aeronautics, biochemical and new technologies. There is also the Poitier faculty of law and faculty of Science. In short this is a centre of business, learning and innovations of the Vienne and France.
