Appellations (AOC) include Blaye,  Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux,  Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux,  Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux,  Côtes de Blaye,  Côtes de Bourg,  Francs Côtes de Bordeaux,  Premières Côtes de Bordeaux.

This area is just 45 kilometers north of Bordeaux on the right bank of the Gironde across from the Médoc. Dating back to the Romans, Cotes de Bordeaux, Cotes de Blaye and Cotes de Bourg have had ample time to perfect a choice of red, white, rosé and Crémant, the champagne-like wine of Bordeaux. The delicious taste and the dizzying reduction in price from champagne and other classified wines will make you a devoted fan

Cotes de Bordeaux, Cotes de Blaye and Cotes de Bourg regions are a must visit for wine buffs, families and historians. The whole package is here - family owned châteaux, historic sites such as the caves of Pair Non Pair and the town of Castillon, accommodation in great gites and guest houses as well as restaurants with exceptional regional food.

An important tip on your wine journey - call ahead to your château of choice for tours, tastings and opening time. The French culture runs on a different and, for the outsider, puzzling schedule which will make perfect sense once you get into the swing of things, for example, always stopping for lunch. When will you have the chance to sip wine in a quaint Blaye or Bourg village restaurant among the vines again!
