Hotel Des Quinconces
Bordeaux
Avis
I cannot say enough amazing things about this hotel! The staff was, without a doubt, the most incredible staff I've ever experienced at any hotel in any country. They kind, helpful, always anticipating needs, and went above and beyond for anything we needed, or didn't know that we needed. Make sure you eat breakfast there for at laws part of your stay because you won't find a better one in town. They have an incredible breakfast with fresh squeezed juices, pastries and dishes from local eateries and wonderful coffee on a beautiful patio. The beds are very comfortable, but the shower is the real star. Hôtel des Quinconces is clean and elegant with a small number of rooms, so it never feels crowded. You feel almost like you have the place to yourself. The location is also perfect. It is just a few blocks from the beautiful city garden, and less than a 10-minute walk to the opera house and the old city. We ate at so many wonderful and walkable cafes and restaurants and the hotel staff made great recommendations as well as planned a day for us in Saint-Émilion(which is a MUST while you're in Bordeaux - only a 30 minute train ride) They even rented us bikes and planned which vineyards to visit and we had the best time. All that to say, if you are traveling to Bordeaux on a romantic trip like us, or even a family trip with children, this is the place you want to stay!
My husband and I stayed here for two nights in Bordeaux. The hotel is under new ownership, and everything felt fresh and well cared for. Alice (GM) was so sweet and made sure we were comfortable when we first arrived. We also got two great restaurant recommendations and loved Arthur's hospitality. It's the perfect boutique experience in such a special city, walking distance from so many great spots, and you'll feel truly connected to Bordeaux. We can't wait to return. Stay here!
The hotel was recently renovated (reopening 06/2026) to a very high standard with excellent staff, very nice rooms (high standard) and a very thoughtful concept
Our stay at Hotel des Quinconces was superb! It is a beautifully renovated hotel that was originally built as a residence in the early 1800s. The nine-room hotel has kept the structure, charm and ambiance of the original building, but at the same time has been modernized with contemporary design. It is a beautiful balance. If you stay here, plan on spending some of your time to just enjoy and relax at the hotel. In fact, the hotel owner and staff want you to! They want you to feel at home because while you are there, it is your home. Speaking of staff, they were all so thoughtful and charming. When we left, I felt that we had made some new friends and that never happens at a hotel! Our room was lovely and the bed and linens heaven! There is plenty of closet space. And the bathroom is huge with great natural light. The bath products are from l'Occitanne. We want to return to Bordeaux again just to stay at Hotel des Quinconces!
We were extremely fortunate to have found Hotel des Quinconces. The two days and nights we stayed were the most pleasurable hotel experience we've ever had. The building and decor are beautiful. Modern and clean design has been incorporated, while leaving the warmth and structure of the original Bordelaise home built in 1834. The location is excellent with the city tram junction at Place des Quinconces a brief walk from the hotel. There are so many thoughtful features in the room design; lots of useful storage and closet space, plenty of handy surfaces to lay your things, an automatic light at your feet as you step to or from the bathroom, and more. The bathroom is enormous. There are two sinks in the long counter, a free-standing bathtub, and a shower space measuring about 5 by 8 feet. The best feature of the Hotel is the staff. Never have we felt so welcomed and appreciated as we did by Alice, Axel, Layla, Matti, Felix, and Mathilde. Everyone went above and beyond to ensure our every need was anticipated and met. For example, we came back from a day-long wine tour of Saint-Émilion to find wine glasses and an opener waiting in our room. The experience was so good, we are thinking of planning a longer visit to Bordeaux just to stay at Hotel des Quinconces again.
