My family and I stayed at the Château for two nights. I’ll start with the positives, because the property truly has potential — but unfortunately, the overall experience does not deserve a five‑star rating. What we loved • The château itself is stunning. • The rooms are beautifully renovated, very comfortable, and the common areas are charming. • Breakfast downstairs is a must: the view in the morning is absolutely fantastic, the food is excellent, and the manager Elisa is very very professional and pleasant, well done to her! • The estate and the vineyard are magnificent — taking a walk there early in the day is a real pleasure. • Overall, the service was good, and we genuinely enjoyed parts of our stay. What went wrong Despite the beauty of the place, several issues made the experience fall short of five‑star standards: 1. Breakfast pricing not communicated We were never informed about how breakfast works. When we arrived, we understood that breakfast was included. To our surprise, at checkout we were told it was nearly €30 per person, including for our children aged 4 and 6. We ended up paying almost 300€ for breakfast, which is unacceptable. This should have been clearly explained at check‑in. It was a major mistake and extremely disappointing. 2. Water bottles in the room The filtered water provided in the fridge was not up to standard. Every bottle had floating particles inside, and one even contained pieces of grass or similar debris. It was frankly disgusting and absolutely not acceptable for a property positioning itself as five‑star. 3. The garden in front of the breakfast area The garden seems to be ran down. No water in the fountain, dry grass… maybe because it was a hot period, but still disappointing and not as pictured on the website at all. Restaurant We also tried the restaurant. The setting is pleasant, but the food and overall experience are below the standard of the château, which is a shame. To summarise, we would definitely go back but would love to see improvements!

This review is a thanks and big applause to Gilles, their fantastic Concierge. We stayed at Chateau Leognan a year ago. I should have written a review then. What brings me back a year later is the memory of Gilles incredible help, presence, and service at the Chateau. He truly pulled our Bordeaux stay together and provided a stunning experience with very little leg work on my part. I am a trip planner and wine lover by nature but showed up to Chateau Leognan with three young children, myself and my husband, and no plan after a very busy couple months. I didn’t know the specifics of the wine regions or where we wanted to go. With one days notice, Gilles put together two fantastic wine tasting days, one along the classic Medoc subregions with a driver and a lunch I still dream about, and the other more local in Pessac-Leognan. Both days unforgettable. Plus he had great tips for a day trip to the beach and St Emilion. We will love Bordeaux wines forever now. I was reminded of this when we just went to Champagne and stayed in a lovely place, but there was no Gilles to help me, how special and appreciated he was. Keep it up. He was the very best part of Chateau Leognan. Note there is nothing walkable from the chateau and limited food options. We were there with young kids and I would recommend it most for adults traveling alone. They were very friendly with our children though.

An amazing stay. Can't fault the hotel, the restaurant or the service. Gilles did an amazing job building a perfect 3 night stay with bikes and visits to local vineyards. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious and the staff couldn't do enough. Gilles was on hand throughout the stay for anything we needed. 10/10

I stayed here 2 years ago with my wife and loved it. The location was beautiful, the staff great, wonderful spa, the restaurant really good, and the morning breakfast perfect. I loved sitting in the chateau porch with wine looking out at the vineyard and big fountain. Unfortunately, my trip to return this summer was cancelled at the last minute, but the hotel was very responsive and understanding of my situation and only charged me for that first night. They responded right away to my email and made me feel like a true guest. My other hotel in France was the opposite. That's why I'll never stay at the other hotel again, but will be returning to Chateau Leognon as soon as possible!

Beautiful chateau with a friendly staff. We enjoyed cheese on their nice terrase before our tasting. Got to have nice conversations with the well educated vintners, and stayed for some caviar (still not to our American tastes 😉) Definitely recommend, but Pro Tip, do NOT ride your bike through the forest. Its made of sand lol)
